The European Commission announced on Tuesday (20 August) that import volumes of Ukrainian honey had exceeded the limit fixed in the regulation setting trade benefits for Kyiv, triggering the reintroduction of tariff quotas.
The Commission has announced on Monday (1 July) that the two commodities will no longer be exempted from duties and quotas as of Tuesday (2 July), as they exceeded the cap fixed in the regulation on trade benefits for Ukraine.
The cereal is the first agricultural product that will be no longer duty free as of Tuesday (19 June), because it exceeded the cap fixed in the latest regulation of temporary trade benefits for Ukraine.
The volumes exported to the bloc have already reached the limit established in the new ‘trade benefits’ regulation, Ukrainian producers said calling for the EU to stop importing sugar from their country for 2024.
